De Bono is widely recognised as one of the World's "Great Minds". Indeed the whole concept of Lateral Thinking can be attributed to De Bono. Originally published in 1967, this book explores "how we think" in determining "how well we think".

In a series of three carefully organised 5-Day exercises -- "The Bottles Problem:" to improve insight; "The Blocks Problem:" to increase Sequential thinking; and "The L-Game:" to improve strategic thinking -- de Bono shows the reader how increasing confidence in how we approach difficult "thinking problems" can improve how well we do at solving them.

Each course sets a practical hands-on problem, that requires no specialist knowledge or maths. Throughout the five days it builds, what begins as a tricky challenge, into one more difficult than you would have imagined being able to solve. En route De Bono offers insights into the problem solving process and pointers to areas you might explore to illuminate your own thought processes. The reader is not expected to solve each problem easily – in fact the errors we make help us analyse our own method of thinking, investigate our own strengths and weaknesses and consider ideas and methods we would not normally have used.

Answers to each problem are available in the book, but spending time to consider the problems was both fun, educational and illuminating.
